West Coast Servers:These are QW links. They require ezQuake to be associated with the qw:// protocol in order to automatically launch the game. Your browser will take care of that for you. Additional Servers:nicotinelounge is a popular QuakeWorld server host. The website acts as a directory of their servers. They also offer QuakeTV links so that you can spectate matches on the servers in real time. In order to connect to the server, you have to copy the nicotinelounge address with the port, then open then console in Quake and type connectbr address:port into the console. Required Files:Most servers require the retail version of Quake, not the shareware copy. While the shareware version might connect to some servers, missing textures and incompatibility are inevitable issues that will put you at a disadvantage. To ensure a smooth experience, grab the retail game from these sources and copy the "id1" folder into your sourceport's install directory. Both GOG and Steam offer the remastered edition of Quake by Nightdive studios. The remaster has built-in matchmaking, a custom content downloader, and an array of post processing effects. Most importantly, you can still access the original files from the 1996 retail copy of Quake which are required to play QuakeWorld.
